What we’re looking for
We seek an experienced and proactive Server and Cloud Engineer to join our Engineering and implementation team. The ideal candidate will have a high level of technical experience building, managing and supporting servers and cloud-based systems, including a deep knowledge of Microsoft 365 cloud solutions and Azure.
The job role will require candidates to be the technical lead for project implementation. This will include:
- Designing, deploying, and maintaining servers on-premises and cloud-hosted
- Maintaining and optimising cloud solutions
- Ensure our systems’ reliability, performance, and security while optimising resource use and supporting customer environments.
- Working in a hybrid team requires a combination of solo and team-based work
- strong, proactive communicator who can lead technical conversations with colleagues, customers, and key stakeholders
- Attention to detail is key
This position requires a skilled problem-solver who can manage infrastructure in both physical and virtual environments, automate repetitive tasks, and contribute to a secure, scalable IT foundation.
About the role
The role of Project Implementation Engineer is responsible for a range of core business activities, including but not limited to:
- Microsoft Stack of products: Azure, Microsoft 365 (inc. Exchange, Entra, Intune, SharePoint, OneDrive), Windows OS (Servers and EUC), Active Directory.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Design, deploy, and manage Azure cloud solutions that align with business needs and ensure seamless performance.
- Server Management: Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, ensuring reliable operation and high availability.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and monitor security protocols for both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry standards.
- The role will require working out of hours when required and participating in an on-call rota.
- Designing and commissioning solutions that meet our SME customer business requirements.
- You will be expected to produce high-quality written documentation of systems to ensure that colleagues and customers always have the required information.
Required skills
- Azure – Provision, configure, and monitor Azure virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking components. Implement security measures and manage access controls in Azure.
- Microsoft 365 (inc. Exchange, Entra, Intune, SharePoint, OneDrive) – System Design and Architecture, Deployment and Configuration, Management and Maintenance, Security and Compliance, and Continuous Improvement
- Windows OS (Servers and EUC), Active Directory – Install, Configure and manage Windows server environments, manage patching and security compliance. Implement and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security and configuration settings
- Ability to work within a virtual team to achieve customer-centric outcomes.
- Extensive experience working with customers, understanding their technical and business requirements and translating these into project deliverables and accurately identifying areas of risk.
- Track record of working within project teams to deliver successful complex medium to large-scale IT projects within scope and on time.
About you
- You are an excellent communicator, able to transmit and receive information clearly and precisely through spoken and written English.
- 4+ years of working experience in an IT operations role at an MSP.
- 3+ years of working experience in technical project implementation for SME customers.
- As you’ll work across different time zones, you must maintain good communication habits with your virtual team and customers.
- The role is office-based to enable collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- You are an enthusiastic, driven and committed individual with a flexible approach to work – you might need to flex your working hours to fit a project.
- You think logically with a consistent methodology and approach to problem solving.
- You will have a minimum of a degree-level education or equivalent experience working in IT, Computer Science or a similar discipline.
