Bedroq are proud to be partners with ICOL. Following our SCADA DMZ work on Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, they reached out to us for a case study. From the Inch Cape Offshore website:
Providing robust and secure communications and connectivity
Bedroq Limited has engineered an innovative demilitarised zone (DMZ) and external communications network for Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm. The solution provides secure internet connectivity, data transfer capabilities between SCADA systems (offshore transmission operator, operations, turbines), remote vendor access, and SIP-trunking for wind farm telephony. Drawing upon experience in critical infrastructure protection, Bedroq’s design incorporates redundancy architecture, robust cyber security measures, and full compliance with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62443 standards, ensuring a solution that is both resilient and future-proof.
Outcomes
Inch Cape has been a significant milestone in Bedroq’s expansion in the offshore wind sector, building on existing experience managing networks and systems for offshore wind farms. Key outcomes for the company include:
- Strengthening Bedroq’s position as a key supplier in Scotland’s renewable energy sector, having already been awarded the telephony & security and communication
packages for the project through Siemens Energy. - A strong demonstration of Bedroq’s technical capabilities and certifications (ISO 27001, 9001, 14001 and 45001) in delivering critical infrastructure for major renewable projects, building a reference case for similar projects, and positioning Bedroq for future opportunities in the growing offshore wind sector.
- Development of specialised expertise in offshore wind farm DMZ and security systems integration.
- Enhancement of Scotland’s renewable energy infrastructure capabilities through local supply chain development.
In a nutshell, the project has enabled Bedroq to showcase its ability to deliver complex technical solutions while maintaining the highest standards of quality, security and safety in the offshore wind industry.
For Inch Cape the outcomes have included having a scalable and flexible solution that can accommodate future expansion of the wind farm’s communication needs, knowledge transfer through collaborative project delivery, and potential for long-term partnership with Bedroq via delivery of managed services and ongoing support.
Patrick Barry, Lead Project Manager from Bedroq said:
“This partnership not only strengthens our existing relationship with the Inch Cape project,
where we’re already delivering telephony & security and communication packages through
Siemens Energy but also demonstrates the value of our innovative approach to critical
infrastructure protection. We look forward to ensuring the highest standards of security and
resilience for this vital Scottish renewable energy asset.”
